Eye tests are of course about looking after your vision, but importantly it is also about your overall eye health. Your eyes can provide indications and warning about other health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesetol, stress and of course conditions such as glaucoma that impact on your vision.

Our Optometrists

As well as Sarah we have two other talented and experienced opticians - see below.

Kalpen

Kalpen has worked with Sarah since 2013 and helped us to set up the sight testing facilities at Spektacle Solutions in 2020. He qualified as an optometrist in 2002 shortly after which he took up employment at Milton Keynes Hospital. In 2015 he obtained his Optometry Doctorate and the Professional Certificate in Glaucoma in 2021. Kalpen’s areas of professional interest include colour vision, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, paediatrics and low vision. He is currently involved in teaching Buckingham University medical students and is also the hospital representative on the MK Local Optical Committee.

Emma

As the practice expanded Emma joined in 2023, to increase our site testing capacity. After qualifying as an Optometrist in 1990, Emma has gained extensive experience in both Community and Hospital Practice and has worked at Milton Keynes Hospital for over 25 years specialising in glaucoma, contact lenses and children’s eye care. She qualified in 2015 as an Independent Prescriber and is able to assess, diagnose and manage a range of eye conditions and if appropriate issue a prescription for treatment. Emma undertook further specialist training in 2019 at Moorfields Eye Hospital and completed her Professional Certificate in Glaucoma in 2021 and is working currently on the Higher Certificate. She particularly enjoys handling complex cases and always takes time to ensure that patients have a thorough eye examination and a positive experience.
